Brief History:
Table Mountain - 7 Wonders of the World: Table Mountain is one of the oldest mountains on the planet, formed over 540 million years ago. Originally called Hoerikwaggo (Mountain in the Sea) by the indigenous Khoisan, it was renamed in 1503 by the Portuguese explorer Antonio de Saldanha, who made the first documented ascent via Platteklip Gorge. Global Recognition: Today, it is the cornerstone of Table Mountain National Park, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (part of the Cape Floral Region) and officially designated as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
Signal Hill: Signal Hill, located in Cape Town, South Africa, is known for its maritime significance, panoramic views, and the daily tradition of the Noon Gun. Originally called Lion's Rump by 17th-century Dutch settlers due to its lion-like shape, it was renamed for its critical role as a communication vantage point. The Noon Gun: The most enduring tradition of the hill is the firing of the Noon Gun at exactly 12:00 PM (Monday–Saturday). Initially fired in 1806 near the Castle of Good Hope, the cannons were moved to Signal Hill in 1902. Today, these are the oldest continuously used guns in the world, cast in 1794.
Bo-Kaap :Bo-Kaap is a historic residential area in Cape Town that was mainly developed between 1760 and 1840, becoming home to many Muslims and freed slaves. Today, with its brightly painted houses, it is recognized as one of Cape Town's most Instagram-worthy districts and is a must-visit to enjoy its delicious Cape Malay cuisine!
